7/21/25 - I have always been enamored with stop motion, to an obsessive degree. I have been moved by some stop motion shorts recently---specifically that of Black Eyed Dog by Alessandro Cino Zolfanelli and My Little Goat by Tomoki Misato. Pristine examples of how perfectly stop motion executes niche, complex emotions; especially emotions and subject matter that can be hard to watch in a live action medium. Stop motion is shameless and visceral in its display. Not when it's edgy but when it's laced with sensitive detail and unabashed human experience, it is just the most breathtaking experience. I will link the short films on the off chance that someone is reading this and not give any spoilers. I implore you to experience them. I was deeply moved by them in an extremely personal way. These films evoke upsetting feelings that lead to a sense of existential revelation of the complexities of humanity. Oh, how appreciative and full of love I am to the creators for making films so evocative, relatable, raw, cathartic, and truly human.
7/21/25 - I am incredibly fixated on Godzilla! I began watching Return of Godzilla but had my watch interrupted. I'd like to go back to it really soon. I have been so enthralled with researching film making lore as well as in-film lore about Godzilla and all the other kaiju. I recently obtained the fourth issue of Mothra: Queen of the Monsters (2025) by Sophie Campbell---I was amped up when I saw this was coming out last year, especially seeing some trans representation, as well! My lovely girlfriend bought the comic and a little Mothra figure for me since she is the sweetest angel on this Earth. I have always adored Godzilla since I was a kid so this fixation is looong overdue. Oh lord, learning about King Ghidorah lore is so insane; what a truly imposing and scary beast! The words "horrific glory" come to my mind right now as I think about him. I will never forget watching Godzilla: King of Monsters (2019) in the theatre for the first time! OMG! I would give anything to experience that again. I LOVE GODZILLA. I can't wait to watch more movies and get into more comics and anything I can really. I am so ready to become obsessed with Biollante.
