x A movie based on an indie game made by an indie gamer. What a refreshing breath of art. Immersion over exposition, fragment over explanation; every part of this worked for me. It truly felt like a sweet spot was found in adapting a video game to the big screen here. I loved being dropped into this world where everything felt foggy, suffocating, and confusing. We just went on a ride, exactly how it is navigating a new game you know nothing about. Especially in indie gaming, you can leave the game saying, "hey, I have no idea what the fuck that was about but man, was that good." I loved only getting bits and pieces of lore, we were just as confused as Simon and we joined him in not being able to peek into his avoidant memories. This feels like such a gargantuan win for the indie gaming community and for the film community alike. I love being a longtime fan and supporter of Mark, he is a truly good person creating art in earnest. I love him and I love Iron Lung!
