We all must lead with love.

Northern brown howler (Alouatta guariba guariba) is a beautiful, critically endangered monkey endemic to the Atlantic Forest of Brazil and Argentina.
They are primarily leaf eaters but, like many primates, their diet shifts depending on the time of year. Although northern brown howlers have tails for balance, they do not brachiate. They instead move around on all fours to conserve their energy.
As their name suggests, these monkeys have a booming voice and make many vocalizations like howls and bellows. Howlers can determine the physicality of other howlers based upon their call and they make decisions according to this assessment, whether that be for fighting or mating.
There is less than 250 individuals of northern brown howler monkeys left in the wild. Their decline is mostly due to habitat loss due to human-caused deforestation, in addition to a sensitivity to yellow fever.
Northern brown howlers are an absolutely enchanting monkey that deserves more attention and protection. I encourage you to read more about them {here} and consider donating to the New England Primate Conservancy, who are a reputable and respectable organization with a mission to educate the public about primates and their importance to the Earth.
The other members of the primate family are our closest relatives as humans and it is our duty to love and protect our magnificently ancient cousins.
